How to Get Job Change Alerts for Prospecting (2026 Guide)

Peter Cools · · Updated on October 12, 2026 · 10 min read

In short: to get alerted when a prospect changes jobs, you have three options. Follow a few dozen people by hand with LinkedIn Sales Navigator alerts. Use a champion-tracking tool if your target is your existing customer base. Or create a “Job Changes” signal in Rodz: you describe the roles and companies you target, Rodz detects every matching move, enriches it (email, company) and pushes it into HubSpot, lemlist or your webhook. It costs 2 credits per delivered lead, about €0.20 at the base rate.

Updated October 12, 2026.

Key facts

  • A new decision-maker reviews their tools and vendors in their first months: that is when a relevant message gets read.
  • Rodz has two signals: Job Changes (discovery: anyone who matches your personas) and Job Change Watchlist (your own list: champions, customers, past prospects).
  • Cost: 2 credits per delivered lead for discovery, 0.5 credit per person per check for the watchlist. A found email adds 0.5 credit, charged only on success.
  • Native delivery to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Attio, lemlist, La Growth Machine, Instantly, Smartlead, Emelia and Google Sheets, or by webhook and API.
  • Rodz signals are already integrated by lemlist, Cargo, Bulldozer, Kalent, The Sales Engine, Overloop, Sinky and Extrovert, and used by teams such as Aircall, OpenClassrooms and JobTeaser.
  • Rodz has produced business signals since 2018 and delivers 80,000+ qualified leads a month (July to September 2026 average).

Why a job change is a good moment to reach out

Someone who starts a new role inherits a budget, a team and tools they did not choose. The first months are when they take stock, keep what works and replace the rest. A message that lands then speaks to something already on their mind. The same message six months later arrives after the decisions are made.

There are two very different cases:

  1. A stranger who fits your target takes a decision-making role (a new sales director at a mid-sized company in your sector, for example). This is discovery: you did not know the person.
  2. Someone you already know moves to a new company: a happy customer, a champion, a prospect who said “not now”. This is the warmest case, because the relationship already exists.

Tools do not cover both cases the same way. The rest of this guide treats them separately.

The three methods, compared

Champion-tracking tool (e.g. UserGems, Champify)Your existing CRM contactsInitial setupAnnual commitment: UserGems from $40,000/year, Champify from $2,000/month (public prices, October 2026)Built for large teams, centred on your existing base
Rodz signal (discovery or watchlist)Your personas and ICP, or your list10 minutes of setup, then automatic2 credits per delivered lead, or 0.5 credit per person per checkUsage-based: set a daily limit

Method 1: LinkedIn Sales Navigator alerts (free if you already pay for the licence)

Save each prospect as a lead in Sales Navigator. Lead and account alerts include updates such as a job or role change (source). The Core licence is listed at $119.99 a month billed monthly (LinkedIn plan page, October 2026). This works for about fifty strategic accounts. Beyond that, two limits show: you only see people you have already saved, and every alert has to be copied by hand into your CRM and then into your sending tool.

Method 2: a champion-tracking tool

Tools like UserGems or Champify read your CRM contacts and tell you when one of them moves company. They are useful if your priority is your installed base. Their public prices target large teams: UserGems starts at $40,000 a year (source) and Champify at $2,000 a month (source), checked on October 12, 2026. UserGems also covers other signals (website visits, hiring). For a small team that mainly wants to follow its champions, the entry ticket is high.

Method 3: a Job Changes signal that feeds your tools

This method covers both cases, discovering new decision-makers and following your own list, with automatic delivery into your CRM or sequence. The steps below walk through it.

Set up the alert in Rodz (no code)

  1. Create an account at app.rodz.io. You get 100 free credits at sign-up.
  2. Open the Signal Library and pick:
    • Job Changes to discover decision-makers who start a role in your target market;
    • Job Change Watchlist to follow your own list (CSV import, HubSpot list or Pipedrive filter).
  3. Describe your target. For discovery: the roles you want (for example “Sales Director”, “CTO”), the size of the new employer, the person’s location, the industries. Titles are matched by meaning and in any language: “Directeur Commercial” matches “Sales Director”, and a more senior role (VP, Head of) is accepted.
  4. Set the daily lead limit in Basic Settings. It caps how many leads, and so how many credits, are used each day.
  5. Turn on the enrichments you need. A work email costs 0.5 credit, only if found. A phone number costs 5 credits, only if found.
  6. Choose the destination in the signal’s Integrations tab: HubSpot, lemlist or another connected tool (see below).
  7. Activate the signal. Every move that passes your filters becomes a lead, with the previous and the new role.

For the watchlist, also choose how often each person is checked: daily, weekly (the default) or less often. If you know the person’s current role, include it in the import: the first check then reports any change against your file.

What it costs, in practice

  • Discovery: 2 credits per delivered lead. With the email: 2.5 credits. At €0.10 per credit (starter pack), a new decision-maker with their email costs €0.25. The credit price falls with volume, down to €0.05.
  • Watchlist: 0.5 credit per person per check, whether or not a change is found. 200 champions checked weekly is 100 credits a week, about €10 at the base rate.
  • Credits never expire, and a lead that fails your filters is not charged.

Full prices are on the Pricing page.

Push the alerts into HubSpot

  1. In the app, open Integrations and connect HubSpot (OAuth, once).
  2. In the signal’s Integrations tab, turn HubSpot on.
  3. Each lead is created or updated in HubSpot together with its company. Duplicates are avoided: a contact already in HubSpot is updated, not created twice.

On the HubSpot side, build a view or a workflow on contacts recently added by Rodz, so the account owner hears about it the same day.

Push the alerts into lemlist

  1. In Integrations, connect lemlist with your lemlist API key.
  2. In the signal’s Integrations tab, pick the lemlist campaign that should receive the leads.
  3. Turn on work email in the signal: an email sequence needs an address.

Write a short sequence about the new role (“congrats on joining…”) and what people in that seat usually tackle in their first months. If you turn on the signal’s AI Messages, Rodz writes a personalised opening line for each lead.

The API way (for technical teams)

Everything in the app is available in the Rodz API. Authenticate with an API key (app: Integrations → API) in an Authorization: Bearer header.

1. Create the discovery signal

curl -X POST https://api.rodz.io/api/v1/signals/job-changes \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $RODZ_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "name": "New sales directors, mid-market UK and France",
    "status": "active",
    "dailyLeadLimit": 50,
    "config": {
      "jobTitles": ["Sales Director"],
      "customTitles": ["Head of Sales"],
      "companySizeFilters": ["51-200", "201-500"],
      "locations": ["United Kingdom", "France"],
      "getEmails": true
    }
  }'

To follow your own list, use POST /api/v1/signals/job-change-watchlist with a profiles array (LinkedIn URL, plus the current title and company when you have them), detectionMode (company by default) and cadenceHours (168 = weekly).

2. Route leads to HubSpot and lemlist

Connect lemlist once with PUT /api/v1/integrations/lemlist (your lemlist key), get the campaign id with GET /api/v1/integrations/lemlist/campaigns, then:

curl -X PATCH https://api.rodz.io/api/v1/signals/$SIGNAL_ID \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $RODZ_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "destinations": {
      "hubspot": { "enabled": true },
      "lemlist": { "campaignId": "cam_aBc123XyZ" }
    }
  }'

HubSpot is connected once in the app (OAuth). After that you only switch it on as above.

3. Read leads without a webhook

GET /api/v1/signals/{signalId}/leads?since=2026-10-01T00:00:00Z returns delivered leads, newest first. Reading is free: a lead is charged once, when it is produced.

What a lead contains (excerpt of the delivered JSON):

{
  "signal": {
    "type": "job_changes",
    "previous_title": "Head of Sales",
    "previous_company": "Example Software",
    "new_title": "Sales Director",
    "new_company": "Example Manufacturing",
    "new_job_started_on": "09/2026",
    "new_job_start_month": "2026-09",
    "change_type": "company"
  },
  "contact": {
    "first_name": "Marie",
    "last_name": "Dupont",
    "title": "Sales Director",
    "email": "marie.dupont@example.com",
    "linkedin_profile_url": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/marie-dupont"
  },
  "company": {
    "name": "Example Manufacturing",
    "website": "https://www.example.com",
    "employee_range": "51-200"
  }
}

Test how fresh a change is on new_job_start_month: it is the month the new role started. Working in Claude? The Rodz MCP server lets you create and read these signals in plain language, see Rodz in Claude.

Limits to know

  • Discovery delivers recent moves, not only yesterday’s. A change is delivered up to 180 days after the start date. If you only want this month’s arrivals, filter on new_job_start_month in your CRM or sequence.
  • The watchlist is billed per check, not per delivered lead. Match the cadence to the value of the list: weekly for champions, monthly for a broad list.
  • Location is the person’s, not the company’s headquarters.
  • Only public changes can be seen: someone who never updates their profile is not detected.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when a customer moves to another company?

Import your customers and champions into a Job Change Watchlist (CSV, HubSpot list or Pipedrive filter). Each person is checked at the cadence you choose, and every move to a new company is pushed into your CRM with the previous and the new role.

Is LinkedIn Sales Navigator enough to track job changes?

For a few dozen accounts, yes: alerts on saved leads include job changes. Beyond that, the manual copy into the CRM and the lack of discovery of new decision-makers become the limits. An automated signal covers both.

How much does a job change alert cost with Rodz?

2 credits per delivered lead for discovery, 2.5 credits with the email. At the €0.10 base rate per credit, that is €0.20 to €0.25 per lead. The watchlist costs 0.5 credit per person per check.

Can the alerts go straight into HubSpot or lemlist?

Yes. HubSpot and lemlist are native integrations: connect them once, then choose in each signal where leads go. Pipedrive, Attio, La Growth Machine, Instantly, Smartlead, Emelia and Google Sheets are also available, plus a webhook for Salesforce, Make or n8n (no native integration for those three).

How soon after a job change should I reach out?

As soon as possible after the person starts, while they review their tools. We recommend a first message in the days after detection, about their new role rather than your product.
