How to Track Funding Rounds to Find Sales Leads (2026 Guide)

Peter Cools · · Updated on October 12, 2026 · 7 min read

In short: to track funding rounds and sell to freshly funded companies, you can monitor the press for free (a few hours a week), pay for an investor database, or create a “Fundraising” signal in Rodz. You filter by round type, amount, country, industry and size; Rodz delivers each round with the amount, the investors, the source and, if you want, the right decision-maker with their email, straight into HubSpot, lemlist or your webhook. It costs 2 credits per delivered round.

Key facts

  • A company that just raised has budget to deploy and people to hire: the months after the round are the buying window.
  • Rodz has tracked funding rounds since 2018: 40,000+ rounds tracked over the company’s history.
  • Each delivered round includes the round type, the amount (original currency and USD), the investors, the announcement date, a summary and the source article URL.
  • Cost: 2 credits per delivered round. The decision-maker’s email adds 0.5 credit, only if found.
  • Native delivery to HubSpot, Pipedrive, lemlist and the other connected tools, or by webhook and API.
  • Rodz signals are already integrated by lemlist, Cargo, Bulldozer, Kalent, The Sales Engine, Overloop, Sinky and Extrovert, and used by teams such as Aircall, OpenClassrooms and JobTeaser.

Why funding rounds make good sales triggers

A funding round is public, dated, and says what the money is for: hiring, opening a country, rebuilding a product. For a seller, that is rare information: the budget exists, and leadership has said publicly what it will do with it.

The trap is timing. Every competitor reads the same announcement on the same day, and funded companies get a wave of outreach in the following weeks. Two things make the difference: reach out fast, and talk about what the round is meant to fund rather than congratulating them. For the full reasoning, read why fundraising is the most powerful intent signal.

Method 1: press monitoring (free)

Tech media publish regular round-ups of funding rounds: Sifted for Europe, TechCrunch for the US, and in France the startup press (Maddyness, FrenchWeb, Les Echos Start) every week. Add Google Alerts on “raises” plus your industry. This is enough for about ten targets a month. It gives you neither the right person nor their email, and every round must be copied by hand.

Method 2: an investor database

Dealroom, PitchBook or CB Insights record funding rounds with a deep history. They are built for investors and analysts: search, charts, exports. They are sold by annual subscription, and they do not push the right decision-maker into your CRM or sequence.

Method 3: a Fundraising signal that feeds your tools

You describe the rounds you care about once. Every new round that passes your filters lands in your CRM or sequence, with the person to contact.

Set up tracking in Rodz (no code)

  1. Create an account at app.rodz.io (100 free credits at sign-up).
  2. Open the Signal Library and activate Fund Raising.
  3. Filter the rounds:
    • round types (seed, Series A, Series B…);
    • minimum and maximum amount;
    • announcement period (24 hours, 7 days, 30 days…);
    • headquarters country, company size and industry;
    • investors to include or exclude.
  4. Pick the decision-maker to contact (persona targeting option): for example “CEO”, “Finance Director” or “Head of Sales”, depending on what you sell. Without this option, Rodz delivers the funded company without a contact.
  5. Set the daily lead limit in Basic Settings, then turn on work email (0.5 credit, only if found).
  6. Choose the destination in the signal’s Integrations tab, then activate.

Two useful variants:

  • Watched Company Raised (2 credits per round): import your target accounts and hear the day one of them announces a round.
  • Forecasted Funding (4 credits per company): companies likely to raise, before the announcement, while budgets are still being discussed.

Push funding rounds into HubSpot

  1. Connect HubSpot once in Integrations (OAuth).
  2. Turn HubSpot on in the signal’s Integrations tab.
  3. With persona targeting, the decision-maker is created or updated as a contact, with their company. Without it, the company is created or updated on its own, with a note describing the round.

On the HubSpot side, a workflow on newly funded companies can assign the account and create a task for the rep.

Push funding rounds into lemlist

  1. Connect lemlist in Integrations with your lemlist API key.
  2. Turn on persona targeting and work email: lemlist needs a person with an address.
  3. Pick the lemlist campaign in the signal’s Integrations tab.

In the sequence, quote what the round is meant to fund (a use-of-funds excerpt is delivered with each round) rather than the amount.

The API way

Authentication: an API key (app: Integrations → API) in an Authorization: Bearer header. Full reference: api.rodz.io/docs.

1. Create the signal

curl -X POST https://api.rodz.io/api/v1/signals/fundraising \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $RODZ_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "name": "Series A and B in Europe",
    "status": "active",
    "dailyLeadLimit": 30,
    "config": {
      "investmentTypes": ["series_a", "series_b"],
      "amountMin": 2000000,
      "announcedPeriod": "7d",
      "hqLocations": ["France", "Germany", "United Kingdom"],
      "companySizeFilters": ["11-50", "51-200"],
      "enablePersonaTargeting": true,
      "targetPersonas": ["CEO", "Finance Director"],
      "getEmails": true
    }
  }'

Amounts are in USD. Industry values come from GET /api/v1/signals/industries, personas from GET /api/v1/personas.

2. Route to HubSpot and lemlist

curl -X PATCH https://api.rodz.io/api/v1/signals/$SIGNAL_ID \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $RODZ_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "destinations": {
      "hubspot": { "enabled": true },
      "lemlist": { "campaignId": "cam_aBc123XyZ" }
    }
  }'

Connect lemlist with PUT /api/v1/integrations/lemlist; GET /api/v1/integrations/lemlist/campaigns lists campaign ids. HubSpot is connected once in the app.

3. Read delivered rounds

GET /api/v1/signals/{signalId}/leads returns delivered rounds, newest first (reading is free). A webhookUrl receives each round as it is produced, and POST /api/v1/signals/{signalId}/test-webhook sends a sample to test your receiver.

Limits to know

  • An unannounced round cannot be detected. Rodz delivers rounds made public. The “Forecasted Funding” signal exists to get ahead of the announcement, with some uncertainty.
  • Without persona targeting, the round arrives without a contact. That is fine for a CRM (company record plus note), not for an email sequence.
  • Amount filters are in USD, even for a round announced in euros. The original amount is delivered too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find out which companies just raised money?

For free, by following weekly round-ups in the tech press and setting Google Alerts. Automatically, with a “Fundraising” signal filtered to your target, which delivers each round with its investors, amount and source into your CRM.

When is the best time to contact a company that just raised?

In the days after the announcement, before the hires and tool choices the round pays for are made. Talk about what the round is meant to fund (a new country, a team to build) rather than the amount.

How much does funding-round tracking cost with Rodz?

2 credits per delivered round, plus 0.5 credit if the decision-maker’s email is found. At the €0.10 base rate per credit, that is €0.20 to €0.25 per round. Credits never expire.

Can I track funding for a specific list of companies?

Yes, with the Watched Company Raised signal: import your target accounts, and every round one of them announces becomes a lead, with the round type, amount and investors.

Are rounds outside France covered?

Yes. The headquarters-country filter takes several countries, and coverage is not limited to France.
