How do you ask Claude which companies raised funding this month?

Peter Cools · Updated on · 4 min read · View as Markdown

Short answer

Add Rodz as a connector in Claude (https://api.rodz.io/mcp), then ask it to create a fundraising signal limited to the last 30 days, your country and your industries. Claude calls list_signal_types, prepares the signal as a draft, asks you to confirm before activating it, then reads the leads with list_signal_leads. Each funding round delivered costs 2 credits; reading leads is free.

Key facts

  • The Rodz connector gives Claude 24 tools, with the same limits and the same credit prices as the API.
  • A funding round delivered costs 2 credits per lead, plus 0.5 credit per email found when persona targeting is on.
  • announcedPeriod defaults to 30d: only rounds announced in the last 30 days qualify (24h, 7d, 60d, 90d and 12m also exist).
  • Reading leads, the signal catalog and your balance costs no credits.
Cost : 2 credits per funding round delivered (+0.5 credit per email found) Setup time : 5 min

Before you start

  • A Rodz account with credits (the test account includes 100).
  • Claude on the web, Desktop or mobile, with the right to add a custom connector (on Team or Enterprise, an owner adds it for the organization).
  • Or Claude Code, with a Rodz API key created under Integrations → API.

Steps

  1. Step 1. Add the Rodz connector in Claude

    In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Name it Rodz, paste https://api.rodz.io/mcp and leave the advanced OAuth fields empty. Click Connect, sign in to Rodz, check the account shown, then click Allow.

    In Claude Code, one line is enough. Without the header, Claude Code signs you in with your Rodz account instead (run /mcp, then Authenticate).

    Claude Code

    claude mcp add --transport http rodz https://api.rodz.io/mcp \
      --header "Authorization: Bearer USR_your_api_key"
  2. Step 2. Copy this prompt into Claude

    Enable Rodz in the conversation’s tools menu, then paste the prompt. Adapt the country, industries and roles to your market.

    With Rodz, find the French companies that raised funding this month.
    1. First look at how the fundraising signal is configured.
    2. Prepare a DRAFT signal: rounds announced in the last 30 days,
       headquarters in France, software and financial services, seed to Series B,
       with the CEO or finance director of each company and their email.
       Limit it to 20 leads a day.
    3. Show me the configuration and the cost per lead, and wait for my go before activating it.
  3. Step 3. Check what Claude prepares

    Claude calls list_signal_types with signalType: fundraising to read the allowed fields, then create_signal as a draft. Review the arguments: announcedPeriod (announcement window), investmentTypes (round types), hqLocations (the funded company’s headquarters, not a person’s location) and persona targeting.

    A draft produces nothing and costs nothing. Claude should ask you to confirm before activating the signal: from then on, every lead is charged.

    }
  4. Step 4. Activate, then read the funded companies

    Answer "Activate it": Claude calls update_signal with the active status. Rounds arrive as they are detected. Then ask:

    • "Show me this signal’s leads since yesterday, as a table: company, amount, round, investors, contact." (list_signal_leads, free);
    • "Why is this signal so quiet?" (get_signal_funnel, free);
    • "How many credits do I have left?" (get_credit_balance, free).

Example payload

One lead as `list_signal_leads` returns it to Claude (fictitious data). Without persona targeting, `contact` is an empty string.

Phrasing the request well

  • Say “draft”: Claude then creates the signal without activating it, and you stay in control of spend.
  • Give a daily limit: it caps leads, and so credits, per day.
  • Say where the headquarters are: a funding signal’s geography filter applies to the funded company’s headquarters (hqLocations).
  • Ask for a contact only if you will use it: without persona targeting you get the company alone.

Frequently asked questions

Does Claude see past rounds or only new ones?

The signal keeps rounds announced within the announcedPeriod window (30 days by default, up to 12 months) and delivers them once active. It is not a database to query freely: Claude reads what the signal has produced.

Does the connector use credits?

Only for what is paid through the API, at the same price: each lead an active signal delivers (2 credits for a funding round), emails found (0.5 credit) and enrichments. Reading leads, the catalog and the balance is free.

Do I need an API key?

Not for Claude on the web, Desktop or mobile: you sign in with your Rodz account (OAuth). An API key is for Claude Code, Cursor or Windsurf, on the same URL.

How do I remove Claude’s access?

In the Rodz dashboard, Settings → Connected apps: revoke the connection. Claude loses access immediately; your API keys do not change.

Can I send these rounds to my CRM?

Yes. The signal Claude creates is an ordinary Rodz signal: switch on HubSpot, Pipedrive or lemlist in its Integrations tab, or ask Claude to add a webhook to it.
